Overtourism in the Tourism Space of Prague in the Opinion of Foreign Residents

Summary/Abstract: The article shows the phenomenon of overtourism in a new, previously unexposedperspective – the assessment of foreign residents of a tourist city. The research area was Prague(Czech Republic). The results of the study show that, according to residents, intensive touristtraffi c is a problem that signifi cantly reduces their quality of life in the city. Overpriced housing,crowding and the constantly rising cost of living in Prague are among the most frequently indicatedhindrances. Regulations of prices and rules for short-term rentals (Airbnb), dispersal of touristtraffi c, promotion of other places and the use of fi nes and penalties are most often suggested asexpected solutions.
