Summary/Abstract: Methodological preferences play an important role in managing the research process (Szmatka, Lovaglia & Mazur, 1996) and may also significantly determine the substantive choices of the researcher (Van de Walle, 2017). In the context of reports on the low methodological awareness of pedagogy students and the occurrence of secondary methodological illiteracy among them (Duraj-Nowakowa, 1993), it was considered important to address the issue of methodological preferences of students of pedagogy. This article presents the preliminary results of the study of female pedagogy students regarding their methodological preferences. Significant aspects of shaping methodological preferences were indicated and the necessity to consider the education of pedagogical students in the area of data analysis methods was noticed. Moreover, the difficulties of students in acquiring knowledge and skills in the field of research methodology were emphasized. Considerations regarding methodological preferences should be continued, as they are an expression of concern for the improvement of the effectiveness of teaching in the field of methodological subjects, which in turn contributes to the optimization of the process of educating pedagogues (ibidem).
