Summary/Abstract: The epitext consists of "any paratextual element that is not physically attached to the text in the same volume, but which circulates to some extent in the open air, in a practically unlimited physical and social space" (Genette). These are, in particular, radio or television broadcasts, conferences and seminars, any public interventions preserved in the form of recordings or collections of printed texts. The epitext also refers to the testimonies contained in an author's correspondence or diary, possibly intended for later publication. In this analysis, we intend to dwell for a few moments on the correspondence of the writer Marguerite Duras. Who are its recipients? Do the messages she writes or receives provide additional information about her personality? What do we learn from the epistolary discourse of the writer and what are the themes approached by her in this type of discourse? The aspects that target his personality, elements of political and literary discourse, as well as his way of relating to the readers, are the targets of our analysis.
