CREATING WOMEN'S PANTS DESIGNS BASED ON TRADITIONAL SIRMA ORNAMENTS OF NORTH MACEDONIA

Summary/Abstract: In recent years, in addition to the positive contributions of globalization, we have entered a period where the influence of cultural values has decreased, and societies have become increasingly similar to each other. As one of the results of globalization, people's clothing has turned into a similar structure with the effect of fashion. Since there are traditional elements of every country, every region and even every city in the past years, the social, cultural and economic factors of the wearer have been differentiated by using clothes. In the same way, information that we can get an answer from, such as the colors, ornaments or the way women wear their clothes, whether they are single or married, or whether they have lost their spouse, have been transferred to the environment through clothes. Today, information on socio-cultural characteristics cannot be obtained from women's clothing, and it is seen that the clothing of people living in different countries is the same. Although the situation is like this with the effect of globalization, societies have their own unique culture and traditional clothing features since the past. At the beginning of these are fabric patterns and ornament motifs. It has now become more possible with digital communication channels to make these traditional motifs known around the world and to transform them into a fashion phenomenon that can be used in the ready-made clothing industry. The aim of this research is to create women's trousers designs that appeal to the fashion requirements of the day, based on the local elements of the Çintian shalwar, which is one of the important ornaments in the North Macedonian culture. In the study, the design elements of the traditional Çintian clothes of North Macedonia will be transferred to the new clothing designs from the local to the universal. A case study was conducted in the study, in which descriptive research method was used. The design parameters were determined by examining the samples of rhinestone ornaments on the clothes belonging to North Macedonia, which were discussed within the scope of the research. The traditional elements of the Çintian shalwar are used in the design of 10 women's trousers in line with the fashion trends of the day. Women's trousers designs, which were created by considering North Macedonian Çintian clothes, were visualized in the computer environment. Within the scope of the study, the sustainability of traditional clothes and ornament motifs, which are among the cultural heritages of North Macedonia, has been contributed to the fashion and ready-made clothing sector, which is constantly in search of innovation.
