Summary/Abstract: Today, sociological literature allocates a wide space to the mutual effects in the parent child relationship. Studies explore how the daily life of children is carried out and how children participate in institutions (e.g., work, church, school, pre-school education, families) that are themselves shaped by these relationships. This paper attempts to make a synthesis of the main contemporary theoretical concepts linked to family socialization from a sociological point of view on the study of children and childhood. The first chapter is highlighting the transition from traditional approaches focused on the paradigms of development and socialization to the orientation that became known as the "new sociology of childhood." The second chapter is discussing the main characteristics of the contemporary sociological approaches, focusing primarily on the interpretations of what is called in the literature the “cultural policy of childhood”. Finally, we underline some of the most significant directions that have emerged in recent decades in the sociological research of childhood in the context of family socialization.
