A Theoretical Overview of the Concept of Passage to the Act

Summary/Abstract: The paper aims to provide a theoretical overview of the psychoanalytical term ‘passage to the act’ in view of the Lacanian understanding. It also attempts to outline the difference between the phenomena of acting out and passage to the act according to the position of the subject towards the other. These phenomena are put together with the Freudian notion of symptomatic action in the context of transference and repetition.
