Summary/Abstract: This work tries to illustrate the way that French translations represented a main source for Grigore Alexandrescu. During the first part of the XIXth century the West culture represented the pattern for the Romanian culture and literature. Starting from Lamartine or Boileau, the French ideas and literary currents were significant elements for the Romanian writer. Grigore Alexandrescu developed his literary creation through an original process, by mixing the classical elements with romantic ones.
