Summary/Abstract: For describing the complex nature of the Internet, an Aristotelian approach is suggested. This perspective alloows for understanding the Internet not only as technological system but also as communication channel, cultural medium, and autonomous organism. As a consequence of extended exertion os the Internet, artificially constructed, self-empowering, pluralistic, and free human communities develop a virtual “online existence” built upon societal life. This third sphere of human existence (supplementing the natural and societal ones) inherits numerous features from the value systems of traditional spheres of human life.
