Agrarian rites at Salva – „wheat wreath”

Summary/Abstract: An old custom specific to the area of Năsăud likewise encountered in all the villages of this area is the so-called „Wheat Wreath”. Every village however has its peculiarities in practicing this ancient custom, consisting in different songs and rituals. Based on ethnographic material collected from village elders, who still lived in the period when this custom was common, but also on the basis of documentary sources, I decided to present this important and almost lost custom, that evidences the rich traditions of the countryside.
