Summary/Abstract: A comparison of the titles of three different cook books translated into Polish and published in different time periods shows the intentions of authors and translators who aimed at transmitting different ideas. On the other hand, the footnotes, apart from those supplied by the authors and faithfuly rendered by translators, are the traces of the translator’s interference with the content of the translated text. The article focuses on the interpretation of the paratexts.
