Summary/Abstract: Starting from the fact that autonomy is not innate, but involves a process of training and learning, in which the teacher often finds himself between the limits of "teaching logic" and "learning logic", we can distinguish two extreme situations: (1) either a total autonomy, in which case the student runs the risk of being overcome by the pressure of the responsibilities which he is not prepared to assume, (2) or an insufficient autonomy, which does not allow him to use his own study strategies and leads to frustration on both sides. Matching and developing the autonomous skills of the learner represents a transformation not only in the curriculum, but, more than that, a new attitude and approach to teaching, since gaining autonomy is a factor of integration in the present society.
