Summary/Abstract: This article deals with Ozjasz Thon’s perception of nationalism, the Jewish people, Zionism and Polish Jewry in the Polish state. His main argument was that Judaism is a nationality and that the Jewish people are a nation, not only a religious group. Although he was a zealous Zionist, he perceived the role of diasporic Jews as crucial and believed that the Jewish-Polish center would be highly important for the cultural and spiritual growth of the Jewish people. He also assigned a distinctive place to Jews as a national minority in the Polish state.
