Summary/Abstract: The performance of an institution is strongly influenced by the leadership style, personal and cultural values of the organization members and work motivation of employees. This study has proposed investigating the correlation between several variables: perceived leadership style, ideal leadership style, organizational culture and motivational factors of Theory X and Theory Y. We were also interested in the difference between categories of personnel (policemen versus civilian, police constables versus police officers and teachers versus support staff) regarding the variables studied. Correlations and differences are presented and interpreted. We discuss the practical implications of study results.
