Summary/Abstract: Wood product prices are determined as a result of supply and demand confrontation, in a free market, so this rule is necessary to work in forestry. The global wood products market is an open market which has no regulatory legislation, as there are other agricultural products. Romania shall provide 90% of the requirement for wood products from domestic resources. We can easily conclude that the national market for wood products is less open; therefore the influence of price developments in the world and in Europe is not very important. State-owned monopoly is influenced by forestry production. Wood processing industry refers to processing raw materials: lumber, plywood, veneer, furniture and more. The main condition that must be considered in sustainable forest management is to establish the volume of timber that can be harvested annually, according to the forest’s annual capacity. The use of efficient forest management measures allows to create the most appropriate structures for ensuring stability and good stands of forest function, but this requires a sufficiently dense network of roads in order to comfortably reach each stand. In Romania, the road network is rare (about 7km/ha) to satisfy this condition.
