Summary/Abstract: A model of human resource practices in the subsidiary units of multinational companies in Romania was developed within the Central and Eastern European International Research Program (hereafter CEEIRT) – composed of researchers from different universities from the Central and Eastern European Region. This model describes the changes of different HR variables in the light of different firm specific factors. Based on components of this model, interviews and on-line survey of top level HR executives at subsidiaries of large multinational companies in Romania and other CEE countries was completed. We seek in our contribution to understand how these practices and roles have developed in response to the sweeping economic changes within this region and the expectations of practitioners’ for the future. In this paper we give an overview of the most significant experience gained in 16 MNC subsidiaries in Romania participating in the survey carried out in 2010.
