Summary/Abstract: The changes in implementing human resource practices in multinational companies are of great interest for both researchers and practitioners. Still there is insufficient data regarding the trends in HR functions and their impact on organizational performance. Being part of a larger research exploring the HR practices in foreign subsidiaries in Central and Eastern Europe, the present paper presents the findings regarding the HR practices in 22 multinational subsidiaries in Romania. The most critical issues for the surveyed companies are the compensations and benefits offered to employees. Despite the development of HR focus in multinational companies, the local line management is mostly in charge of the decisions regarding the HR functions.
