Summary/Abstract: This article approaches a current and very important problem, namely selective collection of household waste, which constitutes an essential component in the waste management process. Collecting recyclable fractions requires consistent effort from the citizens, by transporting old material to collection points. Selective collection of waste requires the use of different containers depending on the type of recoverable material, considered as a useful fraction of waste: paper / cardboard, glass, plastics, metals, organic waste. The success of collection is based on each citizen’s behavior and the efficiency of investments in this system depends on public awareness on the need of selective collection.
