Summary/Abstract: This paper addresses the current situation in the management of plastic packages ascertaining the increase of their generation rate, although the recycling rates have remained very low. The generation of the plastic waste is the indicator that best illustrates the measure of the interaction between the human activities and the environment. This indicator usually follows the trends of consumption and of production. Currently, the collection and the recycling of plastics waste constitute a major preoccupation worldwide because of their diversity. Although some plastics may seem identical, they are in fact different materials groups with a different molecular structure. Their production requires significant quantities of resources, firstly, the fossil fuels used as raw material and secondly, the energy required for the production process. In Romania, the package is still built purely based on marketing and not ecology. When a responsible consumer takes a purchase decision, he must also take into account the impact of packages waste on our health, in terms of the environment.
