Summary/Abstract: The present paper focuses on the issue of war as it is described in Margaret Mitchell’s novel entitled “Gone with the Wind” highlighting the advantages and disadvantages of presenting the Civil War from a Southern point of view with typical Southern characters and themes. The study analyzes some important changes caused by war in the economy and social life of the South as well as the issue of slavery as the main reason of war, the attitudes of different characters towards war being of paramount importance in the novel.
