Summary/Abstract: This paper deals with the thought of one of the most influential economists of the 20th century, Chicago University professor Milton Friedman. Along with the most significant biographical data about a man who managed to change the way the economic theory functioned until then, his teachings are given as well, and the theories he constructed are explained through the prism of his writings, but also through the prism of the critics which was harsh. Also, a short view of the liberal philosophy of economics is given. What makes Fredman unique is that he, unlike most scientists in the social field of work, had the opportunity to try out his theories in practice, in a scope which involved whole countries. This paper shows the course of those experiments.
