Summary/Abstract: In today's dynamic countermeasures against the criminal contingent, operatives interact with double agents in various situations. This determines the relevance of the study of their personal profile and motivation, to which the present study is also dedicated. For its implementation, we constructed a separate questionnaire and a scale for evaluating the attitudes of employees regarding double agents. According to the obtained empirical results, dual agents are distinguished by increased egocentrism, mercantilism and pragmatism. They are manipulative, with developed survival attitudes, exhibit plasticity, composure and self-control. A double agent is a person with sustained attention, developed memory and practical thinking. He is erudite, with good communication skills, quickly and effectively navigates the behavior and intentions of other people. The successful double agent uses his knowledge, skills and habits in his activities to achieve his goals and survive in a complex and dangerous intelligence context. Acting police officers are insufficiently informed about the personality and behavioral haracteristics of double agents and compensate for these deficits with nformation from literary works, films, and news media. Successful handling of double agents by police officers requires specialized training based on indepth psychological studies of their personality traits and motivations.
