In memoriam Cristian Andrei Scăiceanu

Summary/Abstract: An important specialist in the fields of philately and cartophily, who also gathered an impressive collection, Cristian Scaiceanu was deputy director of the National Philatelic Museum between 2004 and 2011. He published over 150 articles and studies and his life's work synthesized- one in two fundamental works for the history of Romanian philately, the History of the Philatelic Movement in Romania and the Dictionary of Romanian Postmark Makers, which entered Romanian historiography and are a reference for any researcher or philately enthusiast.Ancient Craiova, his last work, printed in 2020, presents the histories of his hometown through postcards and documents collected by the author, who over the years also led the Dolj Philatelic Society (1990-1998).Cristian Scaiceanu was a close and valued collaborator of the National History Museum of Romania, participating with pieces from his personal collection in the temporary exhibitions of our institution.
