Summary/Abstract: Background: The doctor-pacient relationship develops on mutual trust, respect and patience. Oncologic patients need to believe they will eventually be treated and overcome the period in which they are most emotionally vulnerable. It is important to maintain a trusting doctor-patient relationship, especially in preventing anxiety and depression.Materials and methods: The study aimed to include 50 patients diagnosed with oncological disease over the age of 30. In order to conduct this research, we used a questionnaire with 10 questions related to the evaluation of the psychosocial aspects of oncologic patients. Results: All participants in this study were diagnosed with oncological diseases, 76% of which were female and 24% male, 70% came from urban areas and 30% from rural areas. It resulted that 46% of the participants would choose to receive notification of the oncological diagnosis, 38% of them said depression was the dominant feeling at the time of diagnosis, 48% of respondents confirmed that their relatives helped them to feel integrated after finding out the diagnosis. Conclusion: It is important that the doctor represents a source of positive energy, optimism for the patient and to be a support in the process of healing or amelioration of this disease. It is known that such behavior on the part of doctors can change the pacient’s perception of the disease and, in some cases, even their lives, through increased adherence to treatment and a change in attitude towards their own lives. Thus, the psycho-social examination of cancer patients should represent an important point in the doctor- cancer relationship.
