Summary/Abstract: Living through all the significant atrocities of the twentieth century - the experience of war, professional interdictions, investigations, detention, semi-exile, persecution, loneliness and illness -the theme of I.D.Sîrbu's nonfiction work is failure or loss of self. Perfectly lucid when writing about them in his correspondence, the diarist takes refuge in literature, carrying the „cluster of suffered memoriesˮ through almost all his texts. Lucian Blaga's favorite student, in fact, recovers the history of his own failure, thus considering himself a loser of the era who takes revenge through his writings.
