European Values and Our Values

Summary/Abstract: This correlation is viewed in the context of the basic implication that values constitute the life axis of individuals and societies being implicit to their identity and particularly being the cause and motive force of new Europeization through the European Union. Pointing out that Europeization is aimed at social priorities and quality of life in Europe, the author outlines major identification European values of today that have determined this aim of the European Union. In order to clarify the relationship between these values and Bulgarian values the author examines the more general relationship between European and national and their respective values today emphasizing the important role played by the national and the reasons for this. Proving the social and organically communal nature of specific Bulgarian values, the author concludes that they follow current European values and that they should be promoted thus stabilizing Bulgarian identity and helping the establishment of European values.
