CYBERBULLYING - A CONTEMPORARY THREAT AMONG YOUNG PEOPLE USING NEW MEDIA

Summary/Abstract: This article illustrates the phenomenon of cyberbullying, mainly among young people, and shows an exemplary classification of behaviors that meet the characteristics of this particular threat, resulting from the omnipresence of the constantly improved ICT space. The mechanisms constituting legal protection against the consequences of cyberbullying both in Poland and the European Union were also presented, their strengths and weaknesses were described. Thus, the concept more related to the letter of the law, i.e. cybercrime, its classification and typology, was brought closer. By defining and describing exemplary forms of cyberbullying, i.e. aggression, hate speech and identity theft, an attempt was made to show the scale of the prevalence of this phenomenon and to show how tangible it is in the modern world.
