Summary/Abstract: Well-known for her dramatic vision upon the existence of the human being, Aglaja Veteranyi was one of the remarkable writers who transformed life into death in her writings. With a traumatic past, the author creates both novels – ‛De ce fiebre copilul în mămăligă’ and ‛Raftul cu ultimele suflări’ – as an image of the gradual destruction of the individual, the autobiographical background being more than obvious after a short research upon Aglaja’s life. Believing death exists inside the human being from the moment of being born, the main character (the author herself) always lives thinking about the End. Achieving a sort of corporality, death becomes a character itself, following the human being at every step. Desolation, fear, suffering, decay represent some of the main feelings depicted in the novels. The idea that we are more dead than alive becomes a motto of the writings of Aglaja Veteranyi, who finally commits suicide, ending her life and setting her soul free – a constant wish hidden behind her words.
