Summary/Abstract: Regarding the alienation of the body, one of the powerful disruptive factors that led to its existence is exile, a key element of the familiar-foreign dichotomy. In the novel of Gabriela Adameșteanu, Întâlnirea, there is a confrontation with both the past and the present, and also confrontation with one's own person lost in the web of temporal time. Through Traian Manu character, the "exiled" identity, tailored around the uprooting of the individual from his native country, is penciled as a process that causes the alienation of the body of a man who tried to build a new life far from home. Exile intertwines with memory, marginality, disillusionment, providing the essential data of the being's participation in the spectacle of temporal trauma.
