Summary/Abstract: Introduction: One of the most important legal acts defining the profession of nurse and midwife is the Act of 15 July 2011. In order to consciously and responsibly carry out professional tasks, it is important to know it. The aim of this study is to assess the knowledge of nursing and midwifery students on selected aspects of the nursing and midwifery act. Material and methods: The method of a diagnostic survey was used to create an original questionnaire consisting of a metric and questions directly related to the act. Appropriate calculations were made using the packages Microsoft Excel and IBM SPSS Statistics, and basic descriptive statistics were analyzed using the U Mann-Whitney test and Spearman’s rho correlation. Results: 69.9% of the respondents had a low level of knowledge on selected issues of the act, and only 1% had a high level. No correlation was observed between students’ knowledge and the analyzed variables. Conclusions: The level of knowledge of students is unsatisfactory and indicates the need for training in the field of this act, because the aspects discussed therein are necessary for the proper and conscious performance of the professions of nurse and midwife.
