Summary/Abstract: The three hundred and third rector of the Jagiellonian University, chairman of the College of Rectors of Krakow's Universities, chairman of the Conference of Rectors of Academic Schools in Poland, member of the Polish Academy of Learning, chairman of the Social Committee for the Restoration of Krakow's Monuments, member of the National Council for European Integration. Decorated with the Commander's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta, the Commander's Cross of the Order of the Southern Cross, the Gold Medal of "Gloria Artis for Merit to Culture", and the Order of the Rising Sun. Doctor honoris causa of five Polish universities, honorary professor of the Jagiellonian University.
