Summary/Abstract: This study analyses the tense alternance of imperfect and present subjunctive with volitive verbs and expressions on native Romanians having a B2 or C1 Spanish level. The paper focuses on the tense used by users having an advanced level of language knowledge; the objective of the study is to show the acquisition of subjunctive tenses by speakers who have a high level of both Spanish and Romanian languages; specifically, the paper wants to see how the learning process was achieved and how much did the semantic value of the verb which requires its use in the volitive expressions influenced the correct usage of subjunctive. The results do not indicate and absolute domain of the use of subjunctive with volitive verbs, but it indicates the predominance of the use of verb tenses according to grammatical norms.
