Summary/Abstract: Foster care - a social service that provides care for children at risk, based on an individual approach and remains the only family care, an alternative to institutional care in Bulgaria. Foster care is an opportunity for the child to have a family, but at the same time the organized processes can be developed as a support for the newborn family, i.e. foster care can be considered as a process of parenting or the development of a parallel support plan and for biological parents. This organized teamwork can be presented in two parallel contexts, interrelated and related to the main goal of quality assurance in the management of the foster care process. The first context - with regard to the participants in the organization of social services, inter-institutional cooperation and the participation of foster families and biological parents as important partners in decision-making for good enough care for the child. The second context underpins the understanding that shared accommodation provides basic support for the child.
