Summary/Abstract: The history of the use of tanks by the German army during World War I is still insufficiently researched. The few existing publications focus mainly on the technical side of particular constructions and, less frequently, on the description of their combat use. However, there is a lack of general studies analyzing the organizational development of German armored forces and subsequent concepts of their use, as well as explaining the reasons behind individual decisions. The aim of this article is to fill this gap.
