The Community of Inquiry and the New Learning Paradigm

Summary/Abstract: My aim in this paper is to provide an epistemological analysis of some sources of the new learning paradigm proposed by Lipman. As a result, I delineate the new paradigm from the traditional standard learning paradigm and mention the main sources, to dwell on Peirce and Dewey's idea of defining the learning community as a community of inquiry. I also point to the epistemic virtues of dialogue as an essential feature of the community of inquiry.
