Summary/Abstract: In the present pages, entitled ”Romanos the Melodist, the patron of psalts”, the author shows that the famous hymnographer did not create but perfected the kontakion and that he is not the creator of the akathist. In addition, specialist studies argue that the herself origin of the Oratorio must be sought in the hymns of Romanos the Melodist and the polyphony in Byzantine music.
