Summary/Abstract: Four basic models of cooperation between school and pedagogical libraries are presented. These libraries are considered as a part of a system in which the flow of information to a significant extent determines the quality and professionalism of the service of users, among whom are all teachers, learners and other persons related to education. In library practice the described patterns of cooperation usually are applied in a hybrid form combining the elements of at least two different models. The activating model, which assumes that the library stimulates the users’ behaviours, and the reactive model, in which the library attempts to fulfil the users’ needs, seem to be the most advantageous ones.
