THE BIRTH OF THE LORD-,,THE MOTHER OF CHRISTIAN HOLIDAYS

Summary/Abstract: The Church calls us today to taste this mystery of the Nativity, to let the light of the wonderful star banish from our souls the darkness of ignorance of God and to worship like the Magi before the Baby Jesus, “whose dominion is on His shoulder and whose name is called To him: Angel of great counsel, wonderful counselor, strong God, conqueror, Lord of peace, Father of the age that will be” (Isaiah 9, 5). Living in an increasingly secularized world, where the miracles and mysteries of God no longer find a place, we note with sadness that, even when we speak or write about holy works, we increasingly use a secular language, which no longer conveys the sacred thrill of “bowing the knees of our hearts” before the miracle ordained by the heavenly Father in Bethlehem, “for us men and for our salvation”.
