Summary/Abstract: The modernization works of the former Fisherman's Bay and its transformation into the current tourist port of Tomis, during the years 1958-1959, led to the discovery of several artefacts, including coins. These coin finds were made fortuitously in the areas excavated in the natural peninsular coast, where a stairway descends to the modern harbor was built. The assemblage consist of 19 Histrian bronze coins that certainly come from the ancient pre-Roman levels of the Tomis fortress, between the 5th and 1st centuries BC. The coins belong to three monetary types: the „wheel” type (17 pcs.), Apollo type (1 pc.), and Demetra type (1 pc.). Furthermore, the monetary magistrate AYΘH is recorded for the first time on a pre-Roman coin issue of the Greek-period Histrian mint.
