Summary/Abstract: In the era of globalization, knowledge management has become a newly-generated model with the focus on the importance of human capital. Therefore the objective of research in the current paper is the role of knowledge management as a strategy to improve organizational performance and to gain a competitive advantage in the global market. The theoretical approach emphasizes the organizational knowledge as an important strategy to create competitive advantage, due to the availability of material resources onto the open market. The paper researches the effects of the implementation of knowledge management in the Republic of Macedonia. The conclusion is that the Republic of Macedonia, as a country with a low level of technology improvements, has to invest in human capital in order to create a global competitive advantage.
