ASPECTS OF LITERARY STYLISTICS IN THE STUDIES OF MIHAELA MANCAȘ

Summary/Abstract: The paper approaches important aspects in the dynamics of literary stylistics as envisaged by Mihaela MANCAȘ. The researcher has dedicated her entire career to the study of the literary text (poetry, narrative and descriptive prose). Even if the research work carried out by Mihaela Mancaș might seem time consuming, it has always represented an excellent opportunity for intellectual fulfilment. During her entire career of more than fifty years she has written many books and articles, the main idea that emerges from her work is that literary stylistics brings together and harmonises literature and linguistics. Her work has inspired many generations of researchers. My research and my academic lectures in Romanian Stylistics rely on the books written by Mihaela Mancaș. This is the main reason why I chose to undertake a synthesis of her scientific contribution to the development of the Romanian Stylistics considering the fact that Stylistics has not been paid too much attention lately. Moreover, it has been considered old-fashioned. Regarding the methodology adopted in this paper, priority is granted to the thematic presentation. Thus, attention is paid to recent and less known publications: Dictionary of stylistics: poetics, rhetoric, narratology, versification and Studies in style and stylistics (I-II)– a collection of representative texts (studies, articles, chapters) published during the period 1962-2017. In case of research pertaining to the same topic I applied the criterion of chronology.The research authored by Mihaela Mancaș is outstanding in terms of interdisciplinarity, the sound stylistic analysis, the attention with which the author compiles the corpora she works with and the attention paid to context.
