Summary/Abstract: Solitude is one of the catchwords in the framework of Christian Bobin’s (1951-2022) writing. This essentially existential, founding notion for the writing subject goes together with those of silence, meditation, childhood, light, love and death….in Bobin’s works. They are all topics of an implacable power, considering their topicality in the context of a writing which mainly deals with the ontology characterising the complexity of the human condition, and with the metaphysics characterising the abstruse the latter contains. Our reflection, that being said, aims to interrogate the mystical and philosophical meanings of solitude in “La Part manquante” by Christian Bobin, by highlighting the revelatory nature of the human being’s mysteries that the experience of solitude brings out by the scriptural gesture, but also by the multiple forms of expressivity it can invest with meaning, especially the painting. The artist’s solitude is the mystical, philosophical and artistic progress towards a word revealing the secrets of existence, a word which is de facto supported by the meditation and the recollection chosen by an artist-writer who started listening to his condition of being-in-the-world.
