Summary/Abstract: Since the creation of the ‘Théâtre du Soleil’ troupe in 1964 and its installation at the ‘Cartoucherie de Vincennes’ in 1970, Ariane Mnouchkine has never ceased to create a multitude of shows, each as eminent as the next. In her productions she has dealt with current and humanitarian subjects that interest and concern society and fight for theater anchored in the present. These subjects often give food for thought on the human condition, this is visible in several of these creations in particular in Tartuffe which deals with fundamentalism, Drums on the Digue which addresses political cowardice or even The last caravanserai which deals with the scourge of exile and immigration. The Last Caravanserai is a show that speaks of exile, loss, hospitality and non-hospitality above all. In this show several dramatic plots are told. These canvases represent fragments of lives, a mixture of memories and stories collected from the testimonies of Afghan, Kurdish or Iranian refugees and exiles encountered during their European stopovers.
