Summary/Abstract: A lesser-known episode in Romanian history is the 1918 territorial dispute over the islands between Hârșova and Brăila. After the Marghiloman government is forced to give up Dobrogea, Bulgaria considers that the new river border with Romania gives it the right to more Danubian islands. To settle this dispute, the two governments decide to turn to an international arbitration tribunal.
