Summary/Abstract: One of the arduous subjects covered in mass media concerns the situation that can sometimes be called immigration or emigration and at other times migration, depending on the ideological perspective, the political context, and the historical period in which it is approached. The references used to inform us about the cross-border movement of people, show us two polarized discourses, one that is politically correct; the other that is controversial. Usually, a proclamation with a positive or negative connotation aims to discredit the words of the other narrative. In this way, an interpretative battle takes place: one of them is declared an authorized language, therefore correct, the other is a banned language, therefore incorrect. This article is a critical reflection about how this method of mass communication called wooden language is used by the media to display stories about the situations of person displacement. Examples from our research in Poland, Romania and Québec will be put in parallel in order to understand the continuity of this method used nowadays and as well in communist Romania. Words are reinvented and codified to the extreme. They are fixed and rigid as consent and imposed to people.
