Summary/Abstract: The author of the article attempts to enforce a method of systematic approach, on linguistic and philological bases, of the Biblical semantics in Romanian. With a large documentation, including the most important Romanian versions of the Holy Bible, constantly referring to the primary sources used by the Romanian translators (Greek, Slavonic and Latin), the author makes a synopsis of the process of lexicalizing Biblical concepts in Romanian, distinguishing three categories of semantic transfer phenomena: the lexical transfer, loan translations and paraphrase. The specific method is exemplified by carefully following the lexicalization in Romanian of the concepts “consciousness” and “the other”.
