Summary/Abstract: The phenomenon of Dictionary of Technology (1981) has attracted the attention of researchers more and more in recent years and is beginning to be understood as a significant point in our contemporary intellectual and political history. In this paper, by looking at the role of the individual in history and his attitude towards it in the context of the key terms of the Dictionary (primarily the terms-roles of technologist and personality), we point to the rounded philosophy of history that he gives. This philosophy is clearly opposed to the social and scientific paradigms established at the beginning of the Modern era, relying on the Christian understanding of history and personality. Personality, according to the Dictionary, is the complete realization of man in history, its consummation. On the other hand, the technologist is only the appearance of a man, a man without substance who has become the object of history instead of its protagonist. Thanks to these understandings of man and history, the Dictionary is as current, research challenging and critical of reality as it was in the time of self-governing socialism when it was created.
