Summary/Abstract: The following article discusses some linguistic traits found in six documents (hiring agreements), drawn up by the Bulgarian Revival Municipality in Varna between the years 1868-1869. Following the already established research model in Bulgarian linguistics for this type of study, the author analyses the Bulgarian written language in the city during the National Revival period – the alphabet and the use of some specific letters (ъ, ь, ѫ, и, i, ы, ѣ, я), the use of the definite article, the verb forms and some other features which can be considered typical for the period.
