Summary/Abstract: Everyday lifestyle and diet affect the psychophysical condition of the body. Smoking increases the risk of laryngeal cancer. It may increase the risk of laryngopharyngeal reflux and Reinke’s edema. Exces-sive consumption of alcoholic beverages may result in dehydration of the mucous membranes of the body and changes in the timbre of the voice. Scientific publications do not confirm the unambiguous harmful effects of caffeine on the voice organ. This harm may be due to the amount of caffeine taken. Body dehydration has a detrimental effect on aerodynamic and acoustic phonation measurements. Too low water supply during the day can lead to reduced hydration of the mucous membranes of the mouth, throat and larynx. People who drink too little during the day may experience excessive dryness in the mouth, sore throat or hoarseness. A diet supporting the proper functioning of the voice organ should be a balanced diet, meeting the daily calorie, vitamin and mineral needs. One of the most beneficial diet models showing a number of health‑promoting properties is the Mediterranean diet model. Herbs and spices that have a positive effect on the mucous membranes of organs involved in voice emission include marigold, common thyme, ginger and black cumin. The purpose of this article is to highlight the impact of diet and its individual elements as well as lifestyle on the voice.
