Summary/Abstract: The text examines the manifestations of madness in the short story “Insanity” by Georgy Raichev. War is seen as the cause of human suffering, as an occasion for breaking away from normality. The intertextual connections with Leonid Andreev’s “Red Laughter”, “Bloody Stains” by Vladimir Musakov and frontline poems by Dimcho Debelyanov are traced.
