Summary/Abstract: The study of the state’s role in the current era requires an outline of the „particular history“ of interwar and post-war neoliberalism or of the specific differences between the theoretical currents that have evolved under the name of neoliberalism, given that their evolution as social liberalism, as ordoliberalism and as neoclassical liberalism configured distinct theories on the state’s attributions in stabilizing the economy and society. The paper aims to present some important benchmarks in the evolution of Western interwar „new liberalism“, to mark the ideological and institutional impact that Keynesian and New Deal liberalisms had on subsequent generations of liberals and also on two decades of post-war government activism
